Toronto - Jrue Holiday and Derrick White led the Celtics in scoring tonight with 22 points each. Holiday added 7 assists and 6 rebounds to his resume as well as 4 three-pointers and Derrick White had 5 three-pointers himself. R.J. Barrett led all scorers with 24 points.
Jayson Tatum had a stout night with 19 points and 14 rebounds. It seems like he had something to prove coming off his early dismissal in the game against the Rockets Saturday night.
Kristaps Porzingis had 15 points and Al Horford had his first double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Al Horford found himself in a starting role due to the absence of Jaylen Brown who sat out with a hyperextended knee. Jaylen is expected to be back on Wednesday night against the Spurs.
The two new acquisitions from the New York Knicks, R.J. Barrett and Immanuel Quickley, led the Raptors in scoring.
R.J. Barrett had 24 points and 9 rebounds. Quickley had 21 points as well as 6 rebounds. These two seem to have taken this Raptors team into a new direction.
Scottie Barnes had 10 points and 13 rebounds. Pascal Siakam and Dennis Schroeder had 17 and 13 points respectively and rounded out the 5 Raptors that found themselves in double-digits last night.
The Raptors have lost 5 out of their last 6 and it seems as if their season is a wash and that they are looking forward to next season. It seems to me that they may be sellers at the trade deadline regarding players like Pascal Siakam and Dennis Schroeder in return for some more rotational pieces and draft capital. With their new additions it seems like they are willing to center their team around Barrett and Quickley as well as their new franchise player in Scottie Barnes.
The Toronto Raptors play the Miami Heat at home on Wednesday.
The Celtics continue to roll, continuing to run that top spot in the Eastern Conference. Coming off freshly setting a franchise record for most consecutive wins at home to start the season at 18-0, the Celtics troubles have all come on the road. In direct contrast from those Ime Udoka teams the Celtics have had troubles going on the road. Now with the streak getting up to 19 games, the Celtics are only 12-9 on the road. This is something that they will need to figure out before the playoffs begin.
The Celtics will play the Spurs on Wednesday night in San Antonio.
